The tooth in question was the last upper one on the left side and I had a big enough cavity that it needed to be extracted.
I had 3 wisdom teeth extractions in the last 6 months and I'm pretty familiar with the stages of healing. This one wasn't so complicated, but I'm worried that I have an infection.
The extraction was 12 days ago and everything was ok after 4 days. No pain, no dry socket, nothing. After a week I started to feel a little weird in that spot - random pain when eating, a little pain when sleeping on that side and some numbness.
I'm pretty obssesed with brushing my teeth now and I was worried to see some yellowish/green saliva when spitting (not after eating or drinking anything). 2 days ago, my throat started to feel a bit sore, now it's pretty painful and I cough some mucus. There's some pain on that extraction side of the mouth and some numbness.
I had a little bit of fever today, felt pretty tired without doing anything and some chills during the night. It may be a cold or something like that, but I'm pretty worried about it being from an infection from the extraction (because of the pain and numbness).  | submitted by SpookyJabroni to askdentists [link] [comments] Infection is on the bottom left wisdom tooth (right side of pic) So about 3 days ago (5/29) I started getting a toothache in my bottom left wisdom tooth. Had pretty intense pain that night, but I started taking ibuprofen and it has been manageable and improving since then. On day 2 (5/28) I concluded it was probably pericoronitis based on the symptoms I had and the fact that there is a small flap of gum remaining on top of half the tooth. I started going back and forth between warm salt water rinses and a hydrogen peroxide solution 4 or 5 times a day. I also began noticing minor swelling in my lymph node below the area of pain. The pain was still pretty bad on day 2 and 3, and I was sucking down a lot of ibuprofen until today (6/1). The pain is now much lower with about half the amount of ibuprofen I had been taking the last few days, and the swelling in my lymph node is hardly noticeable anymore. This morning I finally got in to the dentist which was entirely unhelpful. The dentist looked at my teeth for 20 seconds and told me I need all 4 wisdom teeth removed as soon as possible then walked out. After trying to ask the hygienist if there were any other options they told me I would have to come back for a $600 cleaning where they would apply a topical antibiotic. Prescribed me Tramodol and ibuprofen then wanted me to sign up for a $3,000 oral surgeon appointment to pull all 4 wisdom teeth. Will the pericoronitis resolve itself with the current routine of salt water and hydrogen peroxide? I also picked up a bottle of paradontax if that would help. Are there any other treatment options? Should I go to a different dentist? Do I really need to get my wisdom teeth removed? I've never had any pain or complications with my wisdom teeth in the past, and it seems extreme to me especially when the affected tooth is almost entirely grown in. Please help me think through this! |

Nectar is now open on Werk Rd just off Glenway behind the Shell station. Parking is one way in, one way out. Enter building in the rear via the silver metal steps or ramp. Nice set up although on the small side compared to other dispensaries. The staff is nice but still learning the job. Great to have another option closer to home.

I’m 36F, 190. My GW is 165, which is what I was pre-pregnancy. I had my daughter last year and gained about 20/25 lbs during and after my pregnancy from wayyyy overeating, stress, and being able to indulge in my fave treats like sushi and wine again.
I visited a RD last month to make sure I was eating well and had realistic goals. She recommend 1500-1600 calories per day with an emphasis on fruit (which I love) and protein from plants and seafood (which I also love.) I left the appointment excited, hopeful, and ready to crush my goals. “20-25 pounds ain’t shit! I’ve done a grad school program, had a baby- I’ve done way harder things than this. Bring it!”
One month later, I’ve lost a whopping 3 pounds. It feels…. Fake. 3 pounds is nothing. Water weight. A big morning 💩. Did I even really lose anything, this even real? Should I keep going?
Logically, I know that that 3 lbs is basically in line with my calorie intake and goals. But it feels, idk, insulting?

Quick Translation Guide:
- Lattimore (1951) - Verse - This is an older translation and was the go-to version for most of the last centaury. This translation is available in most formats (including audio and eBook versions). This is still the go-to version for scholars and students.
- Fitzgerald (1974) Oxford World Classics - Verse - Not 100% faithful but written in a poetic style that is pleasant to read. There is a modern audiobook version, read by the actor Dan Stevens.
- Hammond (1987) - Prose - Highly recommended
- Fagles (1990) - Verse - One of the big staples, not 100% faithful to the original Greek but reviews suggest that it is accessible and a good introduction for beginners.
- E.V Rieu (2003, written in 1950s) -Penguin - Prose - this is a modern staple with lots of audiobook versions available. Some reviews comment that some of the prose is dry.
- Merrill (2007) - Verse - Modern and reasonably faithful to original but a bit flowery in parts. Merrill uses an unusual meter, English hexameter, to shape the verse as close to the ancient Greek version as possible. Reviews are mixed on this but overall positive.
- Kline (2009) Poetry in Translation - Prose - Good translation and available for free online on the Poetry in Translation website, complete with index links and context notes.
- Verity (2010) Oxford World Classics - Verse - This is really highly recommended by the classics poster. Reviews claim that it is readable and an excellent overall translation.
- Peter Green (2015) - Verse - Highly recommended. I personally enjoyed it and found it accessible. Sadly there is no audiobook version. The names use the older, archaic variations for a lot of characters though, which can be confusing.
- Caroline Alexander (2015) Vintage Classics - Verse - Another favourite of the classics poster. Reviews say that this version captures a lot of the rhythm of the original verse. The language is modern.
- Note - Emily Wilson's translation comes out late September 2023 - which is a little late for us but if you are a later reader or looking for a good translation in general, this is probably going to be very good. Her version of the Odyssey was popular on our subreddit, was easy to read and has a great audiobook so hopefully her Iliad will follow suit.

I would like to replace the task of creating/modifying sql statements to get data out of the databases.

Also have been waking up with a very stiff/painful jaw on the same side every morning (that stops hurting after opening/closing my mouth a few times). I thought the pain on that side is bc I’m having sensitivity in the tooth I did the filling in which is on the other side, so I’m only chewing on the side with the white spot. But now that I’ve discovered the spot I’m a bit worried… should I get checked for cancer? I don’t smoke, barely ever drink alcohol and don’t have any other medical conditions other than having tonsillitis/sinus infections a bit the last few months. |

Hey bromos Just found out my 5 year old son has a cavity. I know it's not the biggest deal but I'm super anxious about it. His dentist told me not to tell him, just come in for the appointment and tell him it's another check up. He JUST got over his fear of the dentist and let them do a proper cleaning and x-rays. This was huge and I was super proud (as was my son!). Low and behold those x-rays found a cavity and now I'm worried he will revert to being scared of the dentist after this next appointment. I know that if I tell him too much about the appointment he will not want to go, I really hope I'm overly anxious and it will all be fine. He really surprised us all by how brave he was at the last appointment, he was extremely proud of himself and I don't want this next appointment to diminish that. Can anyone share advice on the situation? Anything i can do to help ease him into it? Thanks in advance for any advice!

2023.06.01 20:38 Acronyms_R_Us Tips to stay calm before dental work
So I have to have cavities filled and some old fillings replaced. I have GI Malabsorption issues that have virtual started rapid deterioration of my teeth so I need to get quite a bit done. I found a local dentist that uses sedation, which is good to get it all done at once and have it be over. I am still nervous about waking up to an extreme flare up though. It's bound to happen (always does) and I am super anxious about it. On top of it, I'm allergic to all of the anti-seizure meds, so I don't even have post-op pain relief. I've literally been surviving by using a lot of weed. How do you all stay calm and prepare yourself for the inevitable when you need dental work done?

I had a routine wisdom tooth removal on Friday of last week. Everything went ok - it was my bottom right tooth, partially exposed. I have had no pain in the area where the tooth was removed so I think it’s healing normally. I also did not need to take any pain pills for the first 3 days.
After day 3, I started experiencing a LOT of numbness in my tongue. The underside is really bruised (which my dentist told me was normal) but I am having a lot of weird numb pain in my tongue as well as severe sensitivity in my top front and bottom front teeth (like if I take a walk and the wind hits my teeth, it hurts really bad). My tongue feels like it has a really big burn on the side (closest to the wisdom tooth that was removed) but I know I didn’t burn it because I was obsessive about not eating anything hot as I recovered.
I also have difficulty opening my mouth the whole way and when I’m not on a pain pill (which I really really don’t want to take unless absolutely necessary), I have to talk thru gritted teeth (I sound like marlon Brando in the godfather).
I already called my surgeon and expressed concern and I realize this can be a complication of the procedure but just wondering if there are any warning signs or things I should be looking out for with this issue? When should I escalate my concerns? It’s just frustrating because I feel like at the point I should have been turning the corner in recovery is when I started the experience pain/issues.
The pain is super uncomfortable and woke me from my sleep this morning and I’m really worried about permanent damage.
Just curious on what I should expect with this and any suggestions for recovery.
