2023.05.29 17:45 Jared_Harbert Swimming Pool Renovation in Florida: Enhancing Your Pool's Beauty and Functionality
| Swimming pools are a popular feature of many homes in Florida, providing a refreshing escape from the heat and a place to relax and unwind. Over time, however, pools may start to show signs of wear and tear, requiring renovation to restore their beauty and functionality. This article will explore the importance of swimming pool renovation, the process of hiring a professional pool builder in Jacksonville, and the benefits of working with a swimming pool contractor. Swimming Pool Renovation Importance of Swimming Pool Renovation Enhancing Aesthetics and Functionality One of the key reasons to consider renovating your swimming pool is to enhance its aesthetics and functionality. Over the years, styles and trends change, and what was once considered modern and attractive may now appear outdated. Renovation allows you to update the look of your pool, incorporating new materials, finishes, and features to create a more visually appealing and enjoyable space. Ensuring Safety and Compliance Another crucial aspect of pool renovation is ensuring safety and compliance with current regulations. Safety standards evolve over time, and your pool may no longer meet the required guidelines. Renovation provides an opportunity to address any safety concerns, such as installing updated fencing, improving lighting, or upgrading filtration systems, to ensure a safe swimming environment for you and your loved ones. Increasing Property Value A well-maintained and renovated swimming pool can significantly increase the value of your property. When potential buyers or renters see a beautifully renovated pool, it adds to the overall appeal of the property. Renovating your pool not only enhances your enjoyment but also becomes a valuable investment that can yield returns in the future. Hiring a Professional Pool Builder in Jacksonville Researching Pool Builders When it comes to renovating your swimming pool, it's crucial to hire a professional pool builder with experience in handling renovation projects. Start by researching pool builders in Jacksonville who specialize in pool renovations. Look for companies with a strong reputation, positive customer reviews, and a portfolio of successful pool renovation projects. Checking Credentials and Experience Before finalizing a pool builder, check their credentials and experience. Ensure they hold the necessary licenses and certifications required by the state of Florida. A reputable pool builder will have a team of skilled professionals with expertise in pool renovations. Evaluating Previous Projects To gain confidence in their capabilities, evaluate the pool builder's previous renovation projects. Look for testimonials or before-and-after photos that showcase their work. This will give you a sense of their attention to detail, quality of craftsmanship, and ability to transform pools. Understanding the Renovation Process Assessment and Design The renovation process typically begins with an assessment of your existing pool and a consultation to discuss your renovation goals. A pool designer will work with you to create a design plan that incorporates your vision, functionality requirements, and budget. Demolition and Construction Once the design is finalized, the renovation process moves on to demolition, where any necessary removals or modifications are made. This could involve removing outdated or damaged materials, reconfiguring the pool layout, or expanding the pool size. Construction follows, including structural work, plumbing, and electrical installations. Plumbing and Electrical Considerations During pool renovation, it's essential to address any plumbing or electrical issues. Upgrading plumbing lines, pumps, and filters can improve the efficiency and performance of your pool. Similarly, updating electrical systems ensures proper functionality and adherence to safety standards. Finishing Touches and Landscaping As the renovation nears completion, attention shifts to the finishing touches. This includes selecting new pool finishes, tiles, coping, and decking options that align with your desired aesthetic. Landscaping around the pool area can also enhance the overall appeal and create a harmonious outdoor space. Cost Factors and Budgeting Materials and Equipment The cost of swimming pool renovation depends on various factors, including the materials and equipment used. Higher-quality materials, such as premium tiles or custom finishes, will contribute to a higher budget. Additionally, if your renovation involves incorporating new features like waterfalls, slides, or spas, the cost will increase accordingly. Pool Size and Complexity The size and complexity of your pool renovation project will significantly impact the overall cost. Larger pools require more materials and labor, increasing the budget. Similarly, if your pool has unique features or intricate designs, additional expertise and time will be required, affecting the cost. Additional Features and Upgrades When renovating your pool, you may want to consider adding extra features or upgrades. This could include energy-efficient equipment, automation systems, or LED lighting. While these additions can enhance the functionality and enjoyment of your pool, they will contribute to the overall cost. Expertise and Knowledge One of the primary benefits of hiring a swimming pool contractor for your renovation project is their expertise and knowledge. They understand the complexities involved in pool renovations and can provide valuable insights and recommendations based on their experience. A professional contractor will ensure that your renovation is executed efficiently and to the highest standards. Efficient Project Management Renovating a swimming pool involves coordinating multiple tasks and trades, such as demolition, construction, plumbing, and electrical work. A swimming pool contractor manages the project from start to finish, ensuring smooth communication between different teams and timely completion of each phase. This saves you the hassle of organizing and overseeing every aspect of the renovation. Warranty and Support Working with a reputable swimming pool contractor offers the advantage of warranties and post-renovation support. If any issues arise after the completion of the renovation, the contractor will address them promptly and efficiently. This provides peace of mind and ensures that you can enjoy your renovated pool without worrying about potential problems. Conclusion Swimming pool renovation in Florida is a significant investment that can enhance the beauty, functionality, and value of your pool. By hiring a professional pool builder in Jacksonville, you can benefit from their expertise, efficient project management, and access to quality materials. Remember to consider your budget, prioritize safety, and explore additional features that can elevate your pool experience. Enjoy the process of transforming your pool into a stunning oasis that provides enjoyment for years to come. FAQs 1. How long does a pool renovation typically take? The duration of a pool renovation varies depending on the complexity of the project. Minor renovations may take a few weeks, while more extensive renovations can take several months. A reputable pool builder will provide you with a timeline based on your specific renovation requirements. 2. Can I renovate my pool myself? Renovating a swimming pool is a complex task that requires specialized knowledge and expertise. It is recommended to hire a professional pool builder who has experience in pool renovations. They possess the necessary skills and equipment to ensure a successful and safe renovation. 3. What are some popular pool renovation trends? Some popular pool renovation trends include incorporating natural stone or mosaic tiles, adding water features such as waterfalls or fountains, integrating energy-efficient equipment, and creating a seamless transition between the pool and outdoor living spaces. 4. How much does it cost to renovate a swimming pool? The cost of pool renovation varies depending on factors such as the size of the pool, the extent of renovations, the materials used, and additional features. It is best to consult with a pool builder to get an accurate estimate based on your specific renovation goals. 5. Are there any maintenance requirements after pool renovation? After pool renovation, regular maintenance is essential to keep your pool in optimal condition. This includes routine cleaning, checking water chemistry, maintaining proper water levels, and servicing equipment as needed. Your pool builder or contractor can provide guidance on post-renovation maintenance to ensure the longevity of your pool. submitted by Jared_Harbert to u/Jared_Harbert [link] [comments] |
2023.05.29 17:45 Realistic_Tea7649 Let's talk about Ranked Play and Crossplay.
Or just CoD and crossplay all together.
Last season in ranked play I finished 2 matches from getting diamond with Crossway enabled. Ranked play was fun. I learned a lot about how to play the game the right way. Cool. Fast forward to this season. For some reason I had been hard stuck at gold 3. It was weird, because everything that I had learned and packaged together wasn't working consistently anymore. Normally once I die, I would watch kill cam to learn the enemies routes and habits, and it would work most of the time. Just this season though once I would watch the kill cam, I could swear that a lot of times it was as if I were being tracked or traced through walls. This season was aggravating and strange. So last night I decided to finally turn off crossplay just to see if I could win the 4 games that I always seemed to hover around just to get back to Plat. Guess what. Solo queuing I went on 9 game win streak and got back to Plat and then I went to bed. Now this has me thinking. Most of Ranked play is a cesspool of cheaters on pc, and in ranked I am never turning that crap back on. A world of difference. Kill cams back to normal. People not magically knowing where you are. Nothing seemed suspicious. So there is definitely a hacking problem and I wish that these weirdos would stop trying to mess with and ruin other peoples experience with the game. People are weird.

2023.05.29 17:44 Suspicious_Return_95 My boss defended her brother
This is a throw away. This particular work incident and what followed since has been unlike anything I've experienced at a job. Tl;dr at the bottom.
My boss has done/threatened some pretty bad shît, like taking money out of coworkers pay checks. But nothing compares to this. TW for s--ual h--assment. Her brother had SHed at least 2 employees, I'll call them R and C, and made additional comments about other women in the building, and, at least once, HS girls(!!!)
At one point our boss realised somehow that he was making these comments. As far as I know none of us made an actual report about it because our job didn't have any official SH report as far as we knew and we were worried about the bias aspect so I'm not sure how she realised this. But she asked us if he'd said anything that offended us. After we gave our stories, she assured us she would talk to her brother.
After this, it seemed like he'd stopped coming around as much so both C and I assumed our boss had talked to him, but then when he did come around, his comments toward C and R seemed to increase. C started to really avoid him and he'd mock her if she called him out. I tried to avoid him as well and wouldn't talk to him.
Shît hit the fan ~2 or 3 weeks ago. I was multitasking on quite a bit of projects but my boss came in with her brother. He said hi to me and I just greeted him very dismissively. They then moved over to a project and started discussing it. I had been involved in that project so my boss, while mostly still talking to her brother, turned to me maybe twice to ask a simple question about it. After answering I'd quickly go back to my very time-sensitive work. She then asked me a third question. I hadn't quite heard and when I asked what she'd said, she got incredibly passive-aggressive all of a sudden, to the point of accusing me of things I wasn't doing and then yelling 'you know what? Forget it. I don't even know why I try when you guys don't even give a shît.' And walked off into her office and slammed her door. I had no idea what to do so I just kept working. All of a sudden she throws her door open and yells at me 'why don't you want to talk to my brother??!' I'm so incredibly stressed at this point but somehow I managed to tell her it was because he was SHing us. She then said, 'I thought you knew that was a joke?'
I just shut down. I had no clue what to say to that and at this point I'm starting to tear up because she's not listening and is now telling me the SH my coworkers have endured was a joke. She basically repeated 'I thought you knew it was a joke' 2 more times, went back into her office, then threw the door open again and yelled 'if this was such an issue, why didn't you report it?' I'm crying at this point and told her we did talk to both her and HR. Then her brother started chewing me out too. I couldn't really hear it or don't remember but I think he said something like 'why didn't anyone tell me I was doing something wrong.'
At this point my gf had come into the room and, seeing what happened, came over to hold me. She's pretty soft-spoken and even she said back to them 'it's clearly not a joke and is hurting someone.' I'll forever be grateful to her for standing up to them.
Both of them leave and have an emergency meeting with our hr guy where the brother was officially fired. Afterward, the brother comes out and 'apologises'. 'I had no idea I was doing something wrong and you'll never see me again because I'm not walking back in through those doors.' Don't threaten me with a good time dude. Then my boss comes out and, while crying, apologises to me and says she had no idea the SH had gotten this bad, which I know is a lie. She also said she's just sometime so dense and doesn't realise these things are happening. Holy shît.
We had a SH survey and an interview the following week. I wrote out exactly what happened, calling out my boss for how she acted toward me. The interview was a lot of my boss saying her brother wasn't a bad person and he's not normally like this, blah blah. She at one point told me she had had no idea all this was going on and that she had never talked to him about it even though she had said she would. She claims she remembers that discussion differently. Of course she does. According to C when she'd done her interview, our boss actually had the gall to ask her if her brother could really apologise and be better if C would be ok with him coming back (???!!!)
NOW my boss has all of a sudden started chewing out my gf and I randomly. Definitely feels targeted since no one else is getting this treatment except the 2 people who stood up to her.
Tl;dr: My boss basically defended her brother SHing co-workers.

Hey everyone,
I hope this post finds you all in high spirits! My name is Chris, and I'm here to find like-minded individuals who share some of my passions and interests. Allow me to introduce myself and let's see if we can make some meaningful connections!
First things first, picture a tall guy standing at 6'6" (yes, that's me!). I'm a 32-year-old gamer who loves to immerse myself in virtual worlds. Whether it's building epic structures in Minecraft, engaging in intense battles in Fortnite, exploring the vast universe of Destiny 2, embarking on thrilling quests in FFXIV, or diving into the mystical world of Lost Ark, I'm always up for some gaming adventures. If you share a similar passion for these games, let's team up and conquer some virtual challenges together!
But wait, there's more to me than just gaming. As a self-proclaimed foodie, I have a deep appreciation for culinary delights. Exploring new flavors, experimenting in the kitchen, and indulging in mouthwatering dishes are some of my favorite pastimes. If you have any hidden food gems or recipes you'd like to share, I'm all ears (or rather, taste buds)!
Now, let's switch gears to the silver screen. Action movies are my go-to choice for thrilling entertainment. Explosions, adrenaline-pumping chase scenes, and heroic battles always get my heart racing. If you're a fellow action movie enthusiast, let's swap recommendations and discuss our favorite scenes!
Now, here's where I might surprise you—I'm a huge fan of Korean dramas. Yes, you read that right! The captivating storylines, incredible performances, and emotional rollercoasters in K-dramas have captivated my heart. If you're into this world of romantic comedies, gripping melodramas, and breathtaking love stories, let's dive into our favorite series and exchange our thoughts on unforgettable moments.
Lastly, a love-hate relationship exists between me and the beach. While I adore the calming sound of waves and the refreshing sea breeze, I have to admit, I'm not the biggest fan of sand. The struggle is real! If you have any creative beach alternatives or stories about your own love-hate relationships, I'd love to hear them.
So, if you share any of my passions, whether it's gaming, culinary adventures, action movies, K-dramas, or even the beach (minus the sand), don't hesitate to reach out. Let's connect, share experiences, and build some fantastic connections together!

2023.05.29 17:42 bvimal Defects in Rigid Pavements
Defects in rigid pavements along with brief explanations: - D-cracking: D-cracking refers to the formation of closely spaced cracks in the shape of a "D" or a series of interconnected cracks in the concrete slab. It is caused by the deterioration of the concrete due to the presence of moisture and reactive aggregates, leading to freeze-thaw cycles.
- Joint spalling: Joint spalling occurs when the edges or corners of the joints between concrete slabs break off, resulting in uneven and deteriorated pavement surfaces. It can be caused by excessive moisture infiltration, inadequate joint design, or heavy traffic loads.
- Faulting: Faulting refers to the height difference or displacement between adjacent concrete slabs at transverse or longitudinal joints. It is often caused by inadequate load transfer across joints, insufficient joint support, or subgrade movement. Faulting can lead to rough ride quality and increased stress concentrations.
- Longitudinal cracking: Longitudinal cracks are cracks that run parallel to the pavement centerline. They can be caused by drying shrinkage, thermal expansion and contraction, or inadequate reinforcement. Longitudinal cracks can result in water infiltration, reduced load transfer, and potential structural deterioration.
- Blow-ups: Blow-ups are sudden and significant upward displacements or fractures in concrete slabs due to the expansion of moisture trapped beneath the pavement. They are commonly associated with high temperatures, moisture infiltration, and restrained expansion conditions.
- Corner breaks: Corner breaks occur at the corners of concrete slabs and are characterized by fractures or spalling. They can be caused by inadequate support at corners, stress concentrations, or heavy wheel loads.
- Surface scaling: Surface scaling refers to the loss of the top layer of the concrete surface, resulting in a rough and deteriorated appearance. It can occur due to freeze-thaw cycles, use of improper deicing chemicals, or inadequate concrete curing.

2023.05.29 17:40 _Cyclops What’s the process of switching locals? And is it easier as an apprentice or a JW?
I’ve heard a lot of conflicting things from the guys in my local. Some say its easier to do as an apprentice but others say the opposite. Some say it can be very difficult to get the hall to sign off on it, others say they know a bunch of guys that have transferred no problem.
I don’t really want to talk to the hall about it because I’m still an apprentice and I know they’re not happy about training guys just to have them leave the local. I honesty love the local I am in and I would love to stay in it permanently if it wasn’t for the fact that my wife and I really want to be closer to family.
I’m about to be a second year, within the next few years I’d like to move from my current home in the midwest out to CO Springs or Denver. I’m not sure if it would be wise to transfer as say a 5th year or if it would be better to top out first and then go. Any info is greatly appreciated.

2023.05.29 17:39 AdExisting3382 Calculating time elapsed
Hi,
Could you help me figure out how to structure the calculation time elapsed?
I have a sensor that outputs either 0 or 1, and I need to calculate the time between the 1st "1" reported and the first "0" reported. This will be a reoccurring calculation.
It needs to calculate the Cycle Time of the machine's operation.

2023.05.29 17:38 CRYP70N Being asked to become CTO and CoFounder of a $4M evaluation startup.
A startup with a $4M evaluation and $100k funding is asking me to become CTO and co-founder. 2 other Co-founders are from top MBA colleges and have generated a revenue of $3500/month after launching the startup 5 months back.
They are giving me ESOPS of $121k divided over 4 years (25% each yeah).
Some background about myself. I am 2 years out of my college and running my web agency plus tech lead at another Startup with a $4M evaluation.
I feel this is a good deal. Other Co-founders are good at what they do i.e. Marketing, sales, fundraising and business development.

2023.05.29 17:38 Soft_Cranberry6313 Boy Scout Axe restoration. Before and after. Thanks to everyone for their help with my many questions along the way.
| Just a quick note.. i did this for a friend, who got the axe from his grandmother. The axe has NO sentimental or “historic” value to him, and he told me to just have fun with it. Used the red white and blue colors for the liners, like the official colors of the Boy Scouts of America logo. Also.. his wife’s name begins with “H”.. and i made an attempt (in picture 4), to get an H into the handle profile. And just a quick fyi.. i molded/inlayed some homemade micarta into the grooves on the tang.. so there’s no structural loss from the small divot created by the H. The tang has some big spaces in it, which i squished the wet micarta together before it cured and clamped it into place. TLDR: that handle isn’t going anywhere lol. submitted by Soft_Cranberry6313 to Axecraft [link] [comments] |
2023.05.29 17:37 Cobnor [FNV] Issue with adding mods to a modpack. Using Wasteland Prospects
2023.05.29 17:37 theuselessmatt People who have a negative opinion on the finale, feel free to reply here
I think the ending was near-perfect, I saw someone mentioning how the structure of the show will mean that there is no way Armstrong can create a "perfect" ending or even something positive/happy. And yeah, while many people expected something tragic like it has always been, their version of the tragic ending may not have been what happened. So I'd like to hear what you thought about it, and your opinions on why you may not agree with how the show decided to end things
For the number one boy, I feel like it was the best for him. What will happen or may happen
- Suicide. This is what people argued. And in the end, okay, but how is that something bad for the show? or for the character. Kendall killing himself, is it something new?
- Redemption. Him not being like Logan. This is the best possible way for him to redeem himself. If he decides to kill himself, none of us could have known if he could change or not, up to interpretation, as everything ahead is. ANYTHING he would do from now will be better than turning into his father. And that's why I feel that no matter how sad he ended up to be, its still miles better than taking over.
For Roman, I feel like one coherent theme throughout season 4, was Roman's development. We all knew him to be gullible, to be narcissistic, misogynistic, everything. We knew how he desperately craved for Logan's approval. The ending was his acceptance that Logan did not want him to take over, just as much as he didn't want the other two to take over. Ken said it the best, Roman DOES NOT want to lead, he just can't say it. But from episode 3 to episode 10, he slowly begins to accept everything. We see grief throughout these episodes, be it pure anger in going against Shiv to get the media to show Mencken wins, to the funeral breakdown.
I feel like one important moment was the dinner video. All three of them saw, that in the end, Logan loved the son who had no intention to take over. And he loved his work-family, and considered it his real family.
When it comes to Shiv's character, people have pointed out that she did everything because she couldn't handle Ken winning. I partly agree. All 3 of them were raised to compete and fight and betray each other, and it ended like that. She didn't care about the killing, she just wanted to bring it up. Was it an ad hominem? Both yes and no. Both of them did show that they accepted Ken and didn't hold any negative view of him due to that incident. But I think Shiv brought it up because of Ken's reaction. He messed up. And I think Shiv's decision was made the moment she got out of the room, it just got reinforced after that.
These are just my thoughts about the finale, I loved it. Now comes the post-show blues.

2023.05.29 17:37 GSMSGPOC The cost of “freedom”
| There are few instances in history, where the true and terrible price of freedom is laid bare for the entire world to see. Whether it is dictators like Hitler or Putin, who come along once in a century, it is in these infrequent spasms of global violence, that remind everyone of why such a price must be paid. However, as those members of the “profession of arms“ and related communities know, sacrifices must ALWAYS be made often in unknown lands and unnamed theaters of operation in order to maintain this fragile gift we call “freedom”. The stars on the wall aren’t carved only once every few decades. The terrible toll of freedom is the blood of the finest men and women this world has ever known. So now that, once again, the “why” is made crystal clear for the entire world to see, hopefully we can all take a minute and remember the “who” behind what allow us to sleep soundly at night. 2023.05.29 17:37 bigpeks Affordable bike tips "allround racer"?
I have no idea how people afford these "Trek racer comfort domane 9" for example, but if I just want to be able to train cycling on a "kind of" track racing bike, but in public and with breaks, what alternatives would I have that are more affordable? I want it to have the same bone structure as a track racing bike in case I happen to get good at it by accident :D

2023.05.29 17:37 Past-River-351 Anyone tried solo adventuring using ChatGPT?
I just did and I've been quite blown away. See how it went: Me: Let's play a solo adventure using ICRP rules and Warp Shell setting where you are a GM and I'm a 1st level character. You start the adventure, ask me what I want to do and I will tell you what I do. Include some skill checks and fights.
ChatGPT: Absolutely, I'd love to be your game master for a solo adventure using the ICRP rules and the Warp Shell setting. Let's get started.
The universe is a swirling maelstrom of timeless energies and chaotic dimensions. Among this multiverse, vast entities known as Warp Shells travel, each one a world unto itself. You are a Warp Shell denizen, venturing out into the multiverse, helping where you can, exploring, discovering, surviving.
You are currently stationed on the Jumbled Cosmos, an ever-shifting Warp Shell renowned for its chaotic landscapes and mind-bending physics. Your mission is to explore a recent anomaly detected on the edge of the Shell. An ancient relic, a monolithic pillar of dark metal, has just materialized from the warp.
You are an Idris, a humanoid species capable of manipulating the core energies of the universe, with an affinity for understanding and utilizing ancient technologies. You've recently been assigned as a Novice Technician (1st level), a fresh recruit in the Warp Shell fleet.
You find yourself standing before the pillar, its imposing height reaching toward the star-speckled sky. Your companion, a hovering drone named Nix, is with you, ready to assist in any way it can.
Scenario: The monolith in front of you is made from an unknown, possibly ancient, technology. There's a control panel of sorts with strange glyphs on the side of the structure.
What do you want to do?
(You can try to decipher the glyphs, physically investigate the monolith, ask Nix to scan it, or try something else).
Me: I send Nix to examine the monolithChatGPT
ChatGPT: "Affirmative," Nix chirps, its lights flickering as it eagerly obeys your command. It hovers closer to the monolith, sensors flaring as it begins to scan the strange structure.
Let's make a skill check here, using Nix's scanning ability.
Nix's scanning ability is considered to be fairly competent (let's say equivalent to your own Intelligence).
Since you're not under any particular pressure or threat, we'll set the difficulty for this scan at Moderate (10).
[Rolling d20: 15]
With a roll of 15, Nix's scanning is successful. The drone begins to feed back data on the monolith, translating the complex information into something more understandable.
"The material is an amalgamation of warp metals," Nix reports, its voice coming through the link in your helmet. "Unregistered alloy...possibly dating back to pre-Cosmic Era. Glyphs are of an unknown language, not found in current databases. Attempting further analysis..."
As Nix continues to scan, there's a low rumble and the glyphs on the monolith start to glow a soft blue. Suddenly, a panel on the monolith slides open, revealing a darkened interior. It appears you have activated something.
What do you want to do next?
Me: Next time I want to roll dice for Nix and myself for skill checks and tests.ChatGPT
ChatGPT: Apologies for the oversight. Going forward, I'll prompt you to roll for these checks.
So, faced with the open panel and darkened interior, what would you like to do? You could try to peer inside, use your Idris abilities to sense any danger, send Nix in first, or take another course of action.
Me: Can i go inside?
ChatGPT: Absolutely, you can attempt to venture inside the monolith.
Given the dark interior, it might be a bit hard to see. Would you like to use any equipment or abilities to help navigate or illuminate the interior, or do you want to go in without any assistance?
Also, as you step towards the opening, make a Perception check (or equivalent if using different terminologies in your rule set). The difficulty will be Moderate (10) as you try to discern any immediate threats or issues.
Please roll a d20.
Me: 3
ChatGPT: With a roll of 3, unfortunately, your Perception check fails. The darkness inside the monolith is more impenetrable than you anticipated. As you strain your eyes, trying to make out what's in the shadows, you miss a sudden movement from the corner of your eye.
Suddenly, a shadowy figure lunges out from the darkness! It appears you've triggered the monolith's guardian. The creature is humanoid in shape, but composed of shifting, dark energy. Its form flickers and ripples, an eerie sight to behold.
Combat is initiated.
As it lunges towards you, roll a d20 for initiative. The creature's Initiative bonus is +2. Let's see who acts first.
Me: 10
ChatGPT: With your roll of 10, your total is 10 (assuming you don't have an initiative bonus). The creature rolled a 13, so with its +2 bonus, its total is 15.
The creature acts first. It lunges at you with a tendril of dark energy, trying to strike you.
Roll a d20 for your Armor Class (AC). Let's say your AC is 15 (due to your basic armor and natural dexterity). The creature has an attack bonus of +4.
[Rolling for the creature: 14 + 4 = 18]
The creature's attack hits, and it deals 1d6 damage. Let's see how much damage you take.
[Rolling for damage: 5]
You take 5 points of damage as the dark energy burns into you. Now it's your turn. What do you want to do? You can try to attack the creature, use a special ability, attempt to retreat, or something else. .
.
At this point I guess it's time to actually create my character, I started without anything, I just wanted to try this. As I said, I've been kind of blown away by this...
