I'm just about to order a new receiver (denon avr-x1700h 7.2ch) and sub (SVS SB 1000 pro) to add to my mini home cinema setup. Currently have some kef q350's, lg c2 65'' and an achient Panasonic receiver from the early 2000's. Center channel will be added at some point soon. For now though, do you think I have made good choices on the receiver and sub ? Cheers

My reciever (Denon S970H) keeps blacking out the screen after 30s when playing spotify through the built in app. Audio keeps playing and a simple button press brings it back but its still very annoying. Can i turn this off any way? Screensaver is already turned off in my AVR settings

I need help deciding between the Yamaha v6a and the Denon x1600h. Accessories4leas has both at good prices. My system is only a 3.1 with Polk csi a6, RTI A5 and Bic F12.
My current receiver is 14 years old so time for an upgrade.
Any suggestions on the best choice for my modest system.

2023.06.01 10:02 Viggetorr Why does my sound stop working mid game/movie
I have a Denon AVR-X200, through which I play games and movies (VLC) on my computer. When it works, the sound is sent to the Denon as Dolby Digital, but often in the middle of a gaming session or a movie it will just stop working and switch from Dolby to something like VR II (or something similarly named). I then have to turn off and on the AVR, and restart the game/movie. I never had this problem before getting the AVR (used, with no warranty).
Does anyone know what could be causing this and how to fix it?

2023.06.01 02:01 Huma_TT Looking for an inexpensive 8" subwoofer...
I'm going to be frank, so please be gentle.
I'm looking for an inexpensive powered sub to replace the passive one from my old AVR set. My old sub is an
Onkyo SKW-390 (8", 6ohms, 130w, 30Hz-150 Hz ). This room is small, I rarely push my audio very loud, but I've enjoyed the Onkyo's bass with my gaming and movies.
Can I get something comparable for $100 or less?
I'm hooking it up to a
Denon S570BT.

2023.06.01 01:48 Competitive-Two-7 New to the group with a “stupid” question.?
Hi everyone! I hope this isn’t a stupid question but I figured I would hit this group up to save me hours of YouTube rabbit hole searching. I’ll let you know what I have and if anyone can tell me if this is possible to do it if I need more/different equipment.
I have: Denon AVR S760H 7.1 currently hooked up to the AVR
I have 8 more in ceiling speakers throughout the house hooked up to a cheap Pyle 6 zone amp. (Currently using 4 zones)
I want to see if it is possible to sync both the 7.1 and the 4 zones so I have music throughout the house. I can only Bluetooth to 1 at a time currently.
Thanks for the support!!

2023.05.31 18:07 surlygent Help with upgrade for basic vinyl only setup.
Haven't been in the vinyl mood for whatever reason for a long time, but that has changed recently and have jumped back in feet first. So I am looking to upgrade my basic setup.
Currently have an old (15+ yrs) NAD-533 table with a similar aged Grado Blue cart. Running into a NAD-3020-V2 and Q Acoustic 3020 bookshelves.
New table? Fluance RT85, Pro-Ject Carbon EVO, U-Turn?...
New phono pre, Schiit Mani 2, IFi Zen Phono?
Separate amp or integrated amp? (I do have a Denon X2200 AVR I could use in this setup)
Powered speakers (would be cool to have bluetooth in the system but not 100% necessary), AudioEngine HD6 or similar?
Where do you think the most value/noticeable improvement would be gained by upgrading?
Budget for upgrades is ~$1000.

2023.05.31 16:56 GreenGod42069 Need help with Denon 590 AVR surround speakers audio
Hi, I have recently purchased my first 5.1 home theater setup on Facebook marketplace for $50. It came with 5 Pinnacle speakers + one 300W Sub and Denon 590 AVR. I do understand that 590 is a very old AVR, but since this is my first home theater system, I would like to use this setup to understand and learn various connections.
Denon 590 does not have ARC support. So I'm using an optical cable to route the audio from my Samsung TV. This is working perfectly for the front speakers and the sub. However I am unable to get the satellite (rear) speakers to work. When I try playing various 5.1 audio tests from YouTube, the rear speakers are not firing. I have tried a lot of options with the AVR settings but couldn't identify the problem. One thing I'm noticing is the 'Source Select' on the AVR is set to 'TV' and it is displaying 'Stereo'. Do I need to change this to anything else? I'm just looking to have the 5.1 channel audio from Amazon Prime, Netflix to be played on my home theater. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks you!

2023.05.31 11:31 m0m000000 Harmon Kardon BDS 580 Reciver, 5.1
Hi there, i’m new into this Home Theater world, so there’s a lot i’m learning.
I’ve placed my speakers as I should for the surround sound experience, I guess my receivesetup is maybe a bit old, I got it for a good price, so I thought it’s a good idea to start with (as I also live in an apartment and have neighbors.)
I’m truly amazed by the sound quality and subwoofer! Wow! - I don’t really use the AVR apps, disc, blu-ray airplay etc. as I have a newer LG OLED smart tv that has Airplay, apps, supports Dolby Vision etc.
So i’m only using the AVR like the system/brain for the surround sound that I play on my TV.
I have some questions I hope you can help me with:
- I can connect my tv and receiver with Bluetooth, HDMI, HDMI eARC and I think the optical red/black cables. I currently use HDMI eARC and I have read and experienced that it sometimes is shit. - So my question which method is the best? - And does the quality of sound get betteworse if I use anything else?
- Can I make my receivesurround setup the default speakers on my TV, so that it’s synced with the TV? Like when I power on my TV the receiver powers on automatically and vice versa, so that I don’t need to manually power on the receiver and it just works like my TV speakers without thinking about it?
- Currently I can’t use my TV remote to turn the volume up and down (HDMI eARC) and its very annoying that I need a separate remote just to turn the volume up and down (the receivers remote), I know that this can be fixed but how? 😅
I hope i’ll become wiser by you guys and fix my small issues . Thank you very much. I’m sorry if this became too long, I was trying to be as precise as possible. ☺️
Thanks again and have a great day/evening everyone.

2023.05.31 08:36 Academic_Pattern_702 7.1 surround
Hello there! I have a 7.1 surround sound system connected to a Denon AVR X3000, but I'm having trouble finding content to make use of it. Unfortunately, YouTube and every music platform I've tried only offer stereo sound, and even the highest streaming services only provide up to 5.1. I'm really struggling to figure out how to use my 5.1 system to listen to music. I'm starting to consider getting 2 studio monitors instead and getting rid of the rest. If you have any suggestions for how I can make use of my current setup, please let me know. Thank you!

2023.05.31 02:53 Mudc4t Klipsch Heritage 5.1 Set-up
So I have an interesting question. I am planning this far in advance as I expect this will be a very expensive answer; and since I am not a wealthy person, I will probably need to start now with saving the money and planning for the room/house this setup would require. So here it goes.
Current Setup: I currently have a 2.1 set-up with 2 La Scalas (1977, crossover rebuild from Bob Crites) that I had given to me by my father who bought them new in 77'. The sub is a Klipsch RP-1200sw and a Denon AVR-X3300W. So that is a what I have currently.
My question is this. I will be inheriting/given my father's custom made Klipschorns as well at some point. Hopefully, years and years down the line (he is 71) unless he decides to give them to me. How we acquired these is pure luck and I will tell the story if you want it, but I don't want to bog down this post. So if I want to make this a 5.1, let's be real it will probably need to be a 5.2 at the very least, what should the plan be to keep this a sound profile that is seamless and not clashing against each other? Selling/not using either pair is absolutely not an option with the sentimental value associated. What would be the best option for a center speaker assuming the Kornerhorns are Front L and R, and the La Scalas are Back L and R? Would a Cornwall or a Heresy be good? Or would another La Scala be bare minimum for Center to not be pointless? Or something not from the Heritage line/from a different brand? What would be the subwoofer setup here? Would another RP-1200sw suffice or, as I have guessed, are we talking complete overhaul in this department? So thoughts?
TLDR: What center speaker in a 5.1 or 5.2/3/4 setup with a Front L/R Klipschorns and Back L/R La Scalas? What subwoofer setup would be best?

2023.05.31 02:01 Dom-o87 Portable & easy to power closed backs
Budget - up to 1000 USD, but would really prefer to keep it under 700. if you really think the extra 300 will make the difference don't shy away from mentioning anything in that price bracket. No iem recommendations, i find them very fatiguing in my ears.
Source/Amp - i want these to be portable, i would also be buying a mobile dac/amp combo (this is not included in the budget listed above, the budget above is entirely for the headphones.) But it NEEDS to be easy to drive.
How the gear will be used - these will be used on the go, lots of moving around, i am a college student so it will be in a lot of varied environments. more recently a lot of quiet environments, so less leakage is somewhat necessary.
Preferred tonal balance - definitely something more neutral or towards Harman target as that is what i am used to. I am fine with a little extra bass (as is typical with closed backs), but don't want some bass cannon
Preferred music genre(s) - pretty much anything and everything, it varies a ton month to month so an all rounder is needed
Past gear experience -
Sennheiser HD58x - fine, not great or terrible but lacks soundstage
Hifiman ananda tuned to oratory 1990 eq profile (harman target) - currently my daily driver and love how it sounds
Moondrop starfield- was my on-the-go setup, but IEM's are too fatiguing for me. the sound itself is fine though.
LSA HP-2 Ultra - While a quality closed back that does fit my requirements, i just don't like the sound, but cant put my finger on why. i will admit bass response is lackluster, but i really dont think that is what it is.
The headphones that seemed interesting based on others comments are:
focal elegia
ath-wp900
akg k553 mkii
ETA mini Closed
Sony MDR-Z7M2
fostex th-610
denon ah-d7200 and ah-d5200
if yall have any other recommendations, or like any of the headphones listed, let me know.
Thanks!

2023.05.31 01:30 draco112233 Upgrade from Chane A1.5 2.0 Setup
Hey everyone! I know, another “help me buy” post, apologies in advance, but at least I’ve started down the road already as I’ll mention below. This is for our living room, 100% HT, just tv streaming shows and movies. Space is about 16ft wide x 14ft deep with seating 13ft from screen. We have 15ft cathedral ceilings too with open dining room behind the couch, not included in dimensions but has same ceiling.
Current setup:
- AVR - Denon x3300
- Front L/R - Chane A1.5
- Projector - Epson LS800
- Screen - was a 135” Silver Ticket and will be the wall until we get its replacement later.
And that’s it! So severely lacking on the audio front but hey it’s been ok for the most part. We don’t listen terribly loud at all, maybe 55-60dB.
I think I’m leaning upgrade upgrade order of: front L/R, then center, then sub. More then likely one at a time as budget allows but feel free to rearrange that order. Budget is about $2000, to basically upgrade to a 3.1 or 3.2 from where we are at.
We’re not opposed to staying with bookshelves, our male dog has storm anxiety and well you can guess how that went on my last towers. Which is why we have bookshelves currently. But maybe he won’t on new ones? Not sure how lucky I’m feeling.
I have on the way a pair of JBL 580’s and a set of T1+ to see how they sound/compare, one for sure is going back. Haven’t yet ironed out bookshelf candidates. Center I’m looking at maybe a 365C or SVS Prime center. And sub maybe save a little more for a PB variant. We aren’t fans of Klipsch sound either so that’s one off the list too.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’m lucky in the wife has zero qualms about looks, so at least there’s that off the filter.
Many thanks in advance!

2023.05.30 23:01 riotinthehall Please suggest a new AVR for upgrade
Have been using a Marantz Nr1509 it's a good avr , however it does not have Dolby atmos or dtsx and many of not all of the major titles in Netfilx Prime etc have that. It's a bit irritating that I'm missing out on it.
I have a modest 3.1 setup with a pair of Wharfedale diamond 11.2 11.c as center and an svs sb1000. May add surrounds but not immediately. I also have a marantz pm6006 that I use to power the left rights, thanksnto preouts on the Nr1509. The avr mainly powers the center and outputs the sub.
Now to note that my speakers have a very laid back and warm sound, good for music and not that great for movies. The avr also does not really power them for that enjoyable feel when watching movies. So then my presumption is that an AVR with a very forward sound and good treble should get thr desired output from thr speakers. Let me know in case I'm wrong.
I've narrowed down on certain options
The Denon x1700h : decent for the price, however it lacs that new factor as the GUI menu is outdated.
Denon x2800h: advantage over the x1700h is that the menu on screen is new and has zone 2 out. So at some point can use my Marantz pm6006 as zone 2 but I'll have to buy another set of speakers.
Onkyo nr7100 or nr6100 : the 7100 is definitely more expensive than the Denons, but has Dirac. Don't know if it would make any difference with my 3.1 setup , smaller room size ? The 6100 seems decent for the price but no Dirac, only Mcacc. Is that not great ?
Pioneer vsx lx305 : as pricey as the Onkyo, though it has Dirac also.
Marantz nr1711 : easiest alternative to the Nr1509, as it supports Atmos and has preouts So that I can use my pm6006 and not let it gather dust. But not sure if it will have that underpowered listening effect on the Wharfedale as explained earlier. Other than that it's a bit old
Marantz cinema 70s : Expensive. Paying only for looks and that new feel over the Nr1711. Has preouts so can use my pm6006.
I have written my thought process in deciding between the AVR'S, and though it might read as though im really confused about this and can't seem to decide I want a AVR that I won't bother replacing for the next couple years. Would really like your thoughts and inputs.
Please help decide and talk some sense into me. Thanks

2023.05.30 21:06 ryanmjs2222 Advice for a power amp vs receiver for my setup?
I currently have a ~6 year old Sony A/V receiver that is giving up the ghost. I’m having a difficult time deciding on a replacement. I’ve got a PS5, Apple TV, LG TV, and a turntable and phono preamp all connected, output to Triangle BR03s.
I’m looking at the Marantz NR1200 and NR1510, a similarly priced Denon or Yamaha receiver, or going to a just power amp. I would prioritize sound quality from the turntable and go with an integrated amp, but I would really love to keep eARC functionality that lets my Apple TV remote control everything. Sometime in the future I might start to expand my speaker setup to include more channels.
Anyone suggestions or perspective would be appreciated!
Edit: Integrated amp, not power amp

2023.05.30 20:27 kinghunter2020 Best way to connect a PB-1000 Pro
I just picked up a PB-1000 Pro. I am setting up a little man cave in the shop, and need to know if I need to buy more equipment or can salvage some stuff I have laying around. I have an old amp Marantz 2230. I read its possible to connect via B side from PB-1000. Then my two towers I can connect to A side. This will all be plugged into older LED tv. LG 5600 i think (cant remember).
Is this all good for sports, and random shows? Or should I buy a DENON AVR-S570BT? I would love to use my old Marantz but I have other uses for it if need be.
