Hi all,
First post here — I found my dream guitar recently at a too good to be true price, and it actually arrived today. I'm 99% sure it's the real deal, but beyond that I know virtually nothing about it.
Pics here I think it's an '85 based on the serial (85323) but there's no other indicators on it and that serial doesn't really look like others I've seen online. It does
not have the (R) next to SCHECTER on the headstock. I took a bunch of pictures if anyone is a Schecter fan and wants to take a look, or might be able to give me any info on it. The tuners are SCHECTER DELUXE, and it mostly seems to match this older reverb listing as far as the birds eye neck / no inlays/dots, but my neck plate does
not say SCHECTER USA, just has the serial. One other thing, it
does have the pull-up coil tap switch on/in the volume knob.
https://reverb.com/item/38384736-schecter-usa-pete-townshend-tele-pt-black-original-headstock-fender-kopfplatte-1987-schwarz Any help is super appreciated — I'm so excited for this thing.

2023.06.01 19:20 TheHeadKnuckle Struggling with PCA9685 Library and Coding for Servos
Good day!
I need assistance with code I am slightly modifying from Alistair Atchison. I have reached out to him via Patreon but am also seeking assistance here. A few months ago I uploaded this code just fine, today I made a quick change from the output being a solenoid switch instead of a magnetic lock. Unfortunately, when saving, I get multiple error messages for PCA9685. Any guidance in getting back on track would be much appreciated.

/**
* Valves and Gauges Puzzle, Copyright (c) 2022 Playful Technology
*
* This puzzle demonstrates a typical "plumbing" escape room puzzle that makes use of:
* - input valves (using an LED and LDR either side of a plumbing lever)
* - output gauges (using servo motors on a 3D printed gauge indicator)
* Players use the lever valves to adjust the pressure value displayed on each of the gauges
* When all gauge needles are pointing to the correct pressure (within allowed tolerance), a relay
* is energised which could release a maglock etc.

2023.06.01 16:44 redditwrongright First amnesty form 1 rejected, is this right?
One of my form 1's was rejected so far because "Weapon serial number and/or model number must match exactly what is engraved on the firearm". Its a Spike's Tactical lower and I didn't include the NSL, CAL, or MOD part of the serial and model. Is that right? I need to include NSL serial, and MOD ST15? That doesn't seem right, and the fact that it came in today, the day AFTER the expiration date, seems like they are just messing with me. Thoughts? Does this mean any other Spike's lower forms I submitted will be rejected as well?

2023.06.01 14:14 MolokoBespoko Following an old interview I recently came across with Rose West’s son, Stephen (who corroborated that his mother *was* friends with Myra Hindley) - I’ve rewritten my old write-up around it just for the sake of re-stating that there is absolutely no evidence of any romantic or sexual relationship.
If you’re one of the fortunate few who is unaware of this, essentially, the rumours go that Hindley and another notorious serial killer named Rosemary “Rose” West had a brief ‘fling’ at Durham in 1995, then broke it off and became enemies over who was more famous.
For context, Rose West falsely imprisoned, raped and murdered at least nine girls and women together with her husband, Fred West, over a decades-long period. Fred killed himself on New Year’s Day 1995 in HMP Birmingham whilst awaiting trial, and both he and Rose had killed independently of each other too. They sexually abused their own children, and their last known murder victim was their teenage daughter, Heather. It is known that Rose killed Fred’s eight-year-old stepdaughter Charmaine too before they started killing as a team (Fred had already killed at least two women prior to this point). In British culture, the Wests are just as infamous and notorious as Brady and Hindley, and even though the two cases are very different I have noticed that details often get confused (I know the overview of the Wests’ case but not the entire biography, and the only similarity I can think of between them and Brady/Hindley is that they were both couple killers). As of 1st June 2023 - the day I am writing this out - Rose is 69 years old and is indisputably our country’s most infamous living serial killer. She is currently wasting away behind bars where she will most definitely remain for the rest of her life.
When the Hindley/West affair story “first” broke in 2019, the context was that West’s lawyer, Leo Goatley, had written the following about their “short-lived dalliance” in a book about Fred and Rose West:
- The friendships [at Durham] were genuinely supportive and often sexual. They could also be unstable and end in resentment. Rose’s first paramour was the Moors murderer, Myra Hindley, who happened to be on the hospital wing at HMP Durham at the same time in 1995 and early 1996. Hindley was there because she had ‘fallen over’ in the exercise yard of ‘F’ Wing. It was prison policy that a new inmate who was a lifer would first be assessed on the prison wing. This assessment entailed psychiatric and psychological examination, as well as a physical check-up. Rose remained on the hospital wing for about a fortnight. Myra Hindley had already been in hospital for a couple of weeks.
- Rose explained to me that Myra’s bones had become brittle and that because of the diagnosis of osteoporosis, the slightest impact could result in a fracture. Hindley had said that the condition was aggravated by reason that for years she was served leftover wartime rations of powdered egg and milk with the prison food. It sounded plausible at the time. Visiting at the time, I recall that Rose was quite taken with Hindley, impressed by her knowledge and ability. Rose said that Hindley had studied various Open University courses. Her comments were slightly cryptic and cautious, which was a tendency with Rose that I had noted on many occasions. It had made getting express instructions on particular issues sometimes difficult.
- She said, “Yeah, Myra, she’s all right, we get on, I want to see how it goes.”
- This was a reference to a flowering, albeit short-lived, lesbian relationship.
- After Rose was moved off the hospital wing, Hindley remained in there for a week or so longer before going back to her cell on ‘F’ wing. At the time, the prison regime on the female wing had a policy of open association. This meant that during the day, the cell doors remained open and the prisoners could come and go within the confines of the wing.
- […]
- When I visited a few months later, Rose’s opinion of Hindley had changed dramatically. She was saying, “You have to watch Hindley, mind. She is very manipulative. You don’t realise it, but she gets you doing stuff for her. Oh, she’s clever, all right. She’s flippin’ dangerous, that one. She ain’t going to take me for a cunt again.” And so heralded the end of the romance. I did wonder whether Hindley had had earlier dalliances that had not gone well and accounted for her ‘falling over’ in the exercise yard, which by all accounts happened with some frequency? Hindley’s plausibility and persuasiveness had, at an early stage in the investigation, been flagged up to me [through Lord Longford, who campaigned voraciously for her parole.]
- […]
- I was aware of Rose’s preference for women. Her lesbian tendencies were well-documented throughout the case. There is a strange parallel between the way she was ultra-critical of her daughter Heather [one of her murder victims] for supposedly being lesbian, and yet she freely, and with Fred’s blessing, regularly indulged in lesbian relationships. And here in prison, Rose was and is known to have a succession of women lovers, yet, apart from Myra Hindley, she never mentioned any of these to me in her correspondence? If there were pen pal lesbian romances, she chose not to disclose those to me.
The rumours next became headline news in 2020, due to the release of a Trevor MacDonald documentary and a book by Linda Calvey (who was convicted of murdering her lover and since her release, has enjoyed both fame and infamy as a crime writer and “black widow” killer). Calvey writes:
* [Rose] and Myra became friends immediately, as most people kept away from them both. One day they were sitting on the landing at a little table with a red-and-white checked cloth, when a screw sidled up to me, saying, “I bet you’d like a camera to take a picture of that.”
* I nodded. Rose and Myra were eating together, chatting away as if they’d known each other for ages. Myra was wearing a brightly coloured kaftan, flowing around her, and had violently dyed red hair, while Rose looked like a small, oversized librarian opposite her. Myra smoked and so she always smelled of ciggies, and her voice, once a soft northern burr, was now gruff and throaty.
* Only a few weeks after Rose arrived, their bizarre friendship ended as quickly as it began. One day they didn’t sit together, and I never saw them speak after that.
I haven’t seen the Trevor MacDonald thing (which I know a lot of people have, so I’d be interested to hear if any of you have any more accounts from that). I pulled as much info as I could from articles, which includes Hindley supposedly telling Calvey (after she mentioned that she thought it was weird that she and West had stopped talking to each other); “She killed her own children. Do I really want to mix with somebody like that?”
Calvey recalled: “They'd go into each others cells and they became really, really close, and I think the majority of the wing all thought there was an affair of sorts going on between them. Everybody went ‘What a weird combination, they've become thick as thieves’.”
“It was really weird that they suddenly became best friends. They were with each other all the time, they had their breakfast together, they'd sit and have their tea. […] They became really, really close for about six weeks, and as quick as it started, it just ended. It stopped and they just weren't even speaking to each other.”
Criminal psychologist David Canter has speculated: “Early on West would've [as an aside, I guess the key word here is “would’ve”] looked to Hindley for help, so she would've used sex to get what she wanted. Hindley would've been aware of that and she potentially could've used West to her own advantage.”
I didn’t know until today, when I was poring over archival newspapers, that this story first broke on 7th May 1995 in the Sunday Mirror, and then it actually became a cover story in the Daily Mail on 23rd November 1995 - the day after West was convicted of multiple murders, at that. (Like… all of the horrific and concrete details of the Wests’ murders, and you immediately turn your front page into yet another excuse to add fuel to the dumpster fire.) Following the Daily Mail was The Evening Standard, The Mirror and other tabloids - all alleging that Hindley and West had become “friends”.
According to the Daily Mail - the article titled "Hand in hand with Hindley" - “the two most evil women in Britain - both openly bisexual - have been seen holding hands in Durham Prison. They were drawn together by shared religion, and the 51-year-old Moors Murderess became West's confidante and adviser. They have made unsupervised visits to each other's cell, and prayed together in the jail chapel. Hindley even sent a 'Good Luck' card before the start of the 31-day trial at Winchester Crown Court which has appalled the nation.” Another Mail article, written a day later, repeated the story and claimed that the two “have spent hours unsupervised in one another’s cells cooking snacks for one another and watching TV. […] Hindley is said to have helped protect her from jail bullies who taunt her and anyone who associates with her”.
Hindley responded to the Daily Mail stories in a hand-written statement to The Independent, and took the issue up with the Press Complaints Commission. Here are a couple of extracts I have picked out:
* If this article is providing some light relief and entertainment at my expense from the heaviness of the Gloucester trial, it isn't only, yet again, disseminating yet another strand of fabricated garbage to weave into myth, it is also causing acute distress to my mother and family, who had to cope with the headline horrors of following my own trial and who have had little respite from them since.
* […]
* I will be refuting claims that Rosemary West and myself have formed a “macabre" friendship, that we have ever held hands, prayed together in the chapel or anywhere else, cooked snacks for each other, watched television together in each other's cells and that I sent her a "Good Luck' card before the start of the trial or at any other time. Nor was I "fascinated" by her when she arrived on H-wing. She was on H-wing before I arrived and was just one of 44 immates.
* Whoever these “prison sources” are who made these “revelations” to the Mail and other papers, it is obvious to me that they received money for this “information” and it is yet another example of cheque book journalism.
* If not, it is just another opportunity to drag my name into the headlines to boost circulation.
In the same Independent story, a “source” with access to the wing stated that “when there are only 44 people in a confined space, it is inevitable that almost everyone will spend some time with everyone else at some point. I'm sure Hindley has spoken to West but there is no special relationship”.
Rose and Fred West’s adult son, Stephen West, gave a taped interview on the matter in 1996 for which he received no payment. He corroborated the Mail's account, recalling that his mother told him how the two women formed a friendship in jail, talking a lot and spending time together and how Hindley sent a 'Good Luck' card before West's trial.
“Mum mentioned Myra sending her a card of some sort. Whether it had been bought in or whether Myra had made it, I ain't sure, but she had sent her a good luck card and basically just wrote ‘Good Luck’ in it. When Mum was found guilty of all the murders, she went back to Durham Jail on the hospital wing, where Myra Hindley was after after falling and breaking her pelvis or hip or something.”
He also recalled her telling him how the pair prayed together in the prison chapel and watched TV together, and how they made soft toys together which were sent to West's newborn grandchild.
“There were times when they would see each other, being on the same wing together
- H wing. It sticks in my mind that they had been together in the chapel. They had begun to talk and form a friendship, they were making toys together and things like that. I know they watched TV together, because I know Mum mentioned she was sat there and something came on about Mum on the news and she felt funny being next to Myra while she was watching it.”
He said his mother had told him and his sister Mae that the pair were friends and still spend a lot of time together: “Mum and Myra had made some soft toys and it was sent to Mae's little 'un when it was born.”
The Mail's original story was based on information from four reputable but confidential sources who could not be named, and therefore could not testify. I will also add to that that Stephen never once alluded to his mother and Hindley being romantically or sexually involved - I don’t think he has commented on it since (I’ll continue to look, though) and I doubt Rose West herself will ever talk about it.
The PCC adjudication declared that because of this they “reluctantly” had to uphold the initial complaint from Hindley back in 1995, since she had been supported by a statement from a deputy governor of the prison. It added that the Mail had acted in good faith'. The file was reopened and in the end, Hindley’s initial complaint was not pursued - not because they deemed Stephen West’s story to be true, but because there had been considerable delays from Hindley’s legal team which meant that they failed to meet deadlines set by the commission.
Another source - possibly the deputy governor of Durham at the time - claimed that the reports of Hindley’s and West’s alleged friendship was “completely untrue”, and another “jail insider” told the People (in an article published 24th March 1996):
* There were a lot of reports at the start that said Rose had hit it off with Myra Hindley. But that's absolute nonsense. For a start, Hindley is in the hospital section with the brittle bone disease osteoporosis. She wants nothing to do with Rose - and regards her with contempt. Her view is that she is very much intellectually inferior to her.
To back that last point up, in that same article either the same or another source was quoted as saying: “Hindley is in a lot of pain because of her condition and is worried she will never be able to have sex again.”
Hope that clears everything up, as this is pretty much all of the information I have managed to find around it (at least so far - I accidentally came across Stephen’s interview when I was looking for another Daily Mail article on the case). I guess people are entitled to believe whatever they want to believe about these rumours. I think they were probably amiable in some capacity, but I highly doubt they were lovers - as I say, that’s just my opinion. I don’t know too much about the West case, and the only thing I know about Stephen is that he was eventually convicted of having sex with a 14-year-old girl, so 😖 no further comment on it all I hope

Hello everyone,
Recently I've noticed that my USB drive is not recognized by my arch linux. I cannot mount it because I can't list him with commands like "sudo fdisk -l" nor "lsblk -f", but oddly I see him with "lsusb" and he shows up in my dmesg (the output are shown below):

As you can see from the output above, the same thing happens with my Android phone. I'm using qtile as a standalone WM, newest kernel version (6.3.4-arch1-1) and have udisks2.service enabled. I've also updated my system today so that should not be a problem.
I have tried several fixes such as starting udiskie with .xinitrc file and deleting duplicated fstab entries but none of them seems to work.
If someone has experienced the same problem or have any ideas on how to fix it I would've been very grateful. If you need some additional information that I haven't provided please let me know.
Best regards and thank you!

2023.06.01 06:45 Puzzleheaded_Tie7408 Reset button not working
My lines randomly stopped working today, they have been working 100% normally up until this point, they are receiving power because they show a dimmed white light when plugged in, but they won't pair to any device and the controller buttons (power, brightness, ect.) won't do anything. I've attempted a reset, but the led won't even turn on when I use a pin to push the reset button, the led works because it flashes when unplugged. Can this be fixed, or will I have to get a completely new controller?
Edit: My serial number is also not valid on the nanoleaf website. I don't know what it means

“Is sensory pleasure a justification for violence?” In today’s society, plant-based foods are readily available. Vegan staples such as rice, pasta, beans, legumes, fruits, and vegetables are among the most affordable food options. It is no longer necessary to exploit animals for food so why do we do it? Most people will tell you they like the taste of meat and don’t want to give it up. The interesting thing is that if taste satisfaction is a justification for needless violence, then logically other forms of sensory pleasure would also be justified. Thieves steal for the pleasure they gain from increasing their wealth and the excitement of breaking the law. Rapists rape for the pleasure they get from their victims. Serial killers kill for pleasure too. In all these forms of injustice, the wellbeing of the victims of these crimes are completely disregarded. The same is true for animal exploitation. To be logically consistent, you would have to say that all of these things are morally acceptable under the same justification. Obviously, it is not ok to steal, rape, and murder to please your senses, so the logical conclusion is that it is equally unacceptable to kill animals for taste satisfaction.
[03:46]
I have more
Victorpollack — Today at 03:46
Bring it on
👻 🔪 Tuff Ghost 🔪 👻 — Today at 03:47
Wow you aren't even arguing, I've found a unicorn
[03:47]
Is it ok to kill an animal because they were bred for food? To be honest, it doesn’t really matter what your intentions were when you brought the animal into existence. Animals have no concept of purpose. Every animal bred for food wants to live, avoid harm, and experience wellbeing. It’s cruel to bring a creature into the world for the sole purpose of exploitation and murder, when you don’t need to. You can just live vegan.
[03:48]
Is it okay to kill an animal if you gave them a good life? No matter how you treat an animal, the bottom line is you don’t actually need to kill them. Taking their life is an unnecessary cruelty. There is no polite way to murder someone. If you went out on a date with someone and showed them a great time and then drugged the person and raped them, even if they did not experience pain and suffering, your actions are still immoral.
[03:48]
“Is it morally acceptable to kill when you don’t need to?” This is another important question. According to The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, a properly planned vegan diet is nutritionally adequate for all stages of life. Since we have established that animals are killed for sensory pleasure, we must conclude that killing them is unnecessary. Animals are sentient beings that have the will to live, avoid harm and suffering, and the desire to experience wellbeing.
[03:49]
In the meat and dairy industries, animals are forcibly impregnated via artificial insemination. Artificial insemination is the soft term the industry uses to downplay the rape and sexual exploitation of these beings. Don’t be fooled. It is rape. If this was done to a human being, it would be unacceptable, but because it is happening behind closed doors where their screams cannot be heard by you, the consumer, it is easy for the average person to shut their eyes and heart to the suffering of these innocent creatures. It’s easier to look away and tell yourself that somewhere in this monstrous industry, something humane has happened. That these animals have had a good life and a clean death. This is a comforting lie but a lie none the less.
[03:49]
“free range” and “cage free” eggs are not more humane than other eggs. These terms were coined by the egg industry to make you feel better about buying eggs, to make you think that the chickens live happy lives, free-roaming. THIS IS A LIE. Cage free and free range chickens are kept in factory sheds, much like those the egg laying hens are raised in. They suffer the same deficiencies and cruel conditions as hens raised in battery cages.
[03:50]
There is no essential nutrient found in animal products you cannot obtain elsewhere. You can be perfectly healthy on a plant based diet as acknowledged by the academy of nutrition and dietetics. It's senseless premeditated murder to participate in animal exploitation. Leave animals the fuck alone.
[03:50]
Some of these are a bit agressive, apologies
[03:50]
I wrote them a few years ago
Victorpollack — Today at 03:51
The question of whether sensory pleasure justifies violence is a complex ethical issue that requires careful consideration. While it is true that in today's society there are abundant plant-based food options available, and it is no longer necessary to exploit animals for food, the ethical implications extend beyond mere taste satisfaction. Your analogy highlighting other forms of sensory pleasure, such as theft, rape, and murder, raises valid points about the disregard for the well-being of victims in these acts of injustice. It emphasizes the importance of considering the moral implications of our actions and the consequences they have on others. When it comes to animal exploitation for taste satisfaction, it is crucial to recognize that animals can experience pain, suffering, and have an interest in avoiding harm, much like humans do. Many people argue that because animals possess the capacity to suffer, it is morally wrong to cause them unnecessary harm for our pleasure or convenience. Ethical frameworks differ among individuals and cultures, and reasonable people may hold different perspectives on this matter. Some argue that there are instances where violence can be justified, such as self-defense or protecting others from harm. However, when it comes to exploiting animals for taste pleasure, the necessity and ethical justifiability are heavily debated.
[03:51]
Ultimately, the decision to consume animal products is a personal choice that depends on a variety of factors, including one's values, beliefs, and consideration of the moral implications involved. It is important to engage in open and respectful discussions about these issues, promoting understanding and empathy for different perspectives, while striving towards a more compassionate and sustainable world. The ethics of killing animals bred for food is a highly debated topic, and opinions vary among individuals and cultures. Some argue that if an animal has been bred and raised for the specific purpose of being food, then it is acceptable to kill them for that purpose. They may contend that these animals would not exist if it weren't for the demand for their meat, and thus their lives have some inherent value in fulfilling their intended purpose. On the other hand, there are those who believe that breeding animals for the sole purpose of exploitation and slaughter is inherently cruel. They argue that animals have their own interests in life, to live, avoid harm, and experience well-being, regardless of the intentions behind their breeding. They advocate for a more compassionate approach, suggesting that we should prioritize the well-being of these animals and work towards reducing or eliminating their suffering by adopting a vegan lifestyle. It is important to note that these viewpoints stem from differing ethical frameworks and values. Ultimately, the decision on whether it is acceptable to kill animals bred for food is a personal choice that depends on one's beliefs and moral considerations. Engaging in respectful discussions and considering the perspectives of others can help foster understanding and empathy on this complex issue. It is essential to approach these conversations with an open mind and a willingness to explore different viewpoints in order to promote compassionate and sustainable choices.

Victorpollack — Today at 04:01
Sorry I'm thinking of another word
[04:01]
It's at the tip of my tounge
[04:01]
Moral relativism is the opposite of what I was going for,
[04:02]
Moral relativism is a philosophical standpoint that suggests moral judgments and values are not objectively true or universally applicable, but rather depend on individual, cultural, or societal perspectives. According to moral relativism, there are no absolute or universal moral standards that can be objectively established. Instead, moral judgments are considered to be relative to the particular context, beliefs, or cultural norms in which they arise. This view recognizes that different individuals or societies may have diverse moral frameworks, and what is considered morally right or wrong can vary accordingly. It emphasizes the importance of understanding and respecting different moral perspectives without asserting the existence of absolute moral truths.
[04:02]
Moral superiority is what I wanted to say

Victorpollack — Today at 04:07

It was however a product of the times during which much of the world had no concept of philosophy, scientific method and access to information.

👻 🔪 Tuff Ghost 🔪 👻 — Today at 04:08

Now replace "kill animals" with "own slaves"
Victorpollack — Today at 04:11
That would not apply in modern times.
👻 🔪 Tuff Ghost 🔪 👻 — Today at 04:11
I don't see a difference
[04:12]
Having one standard for animals and another for humans is speciesist
[04:12]
Would you hold the same position with any other injustice
Victorpollack — Today at 04:13
Killing animals and owning slaves are distinct practices with different ethical considerations. While both involve the treatment of living beings, there are significant differences in the nature and moral implications of these actions. Here are some key distinctions: Moral status: Slavery involves the ownership and subjugation of human beings, denying their basic rights, freedoms, and autonomy. Slavery is widely condemned due to its inherent violation of human rights and the principle of equality among individuals. Animals, on the other hand, are often not considered to have the same moral status as humans. This difference in moral standing is a point of ethical contention and subject to various philosophical perspectives. Consent, autonomy: Slavery involves the deprivation of an individual's consent and autonomy. Enslaved people are forced into a state of subordination and are often subjected to coercion, violence, and exploitation. In contrast, animals do not possess the same level of cognitive and moral agency as humans. This difference in cognitive capacity and understanding raises questions about the extent to which animals can give informed consent or exercise autonomy. Historical and societal context: Slavery has a long history deeply rooted in systemic oppression, racism, and the exploitation of vulnerable populations. It has been a significant source of suffering and injustice throughout human history. While animal exploitation in various forms has also existed throughout history, the moral considerations and societal attitudes toward animal rights have evolved over time, with increasing recognition of the ethical treatment of animals. It is important to note that the comparison between killing animals and owning slaves can be complex, as it involves different philosophical perspectives, cultural contexts, and individual beliefs. Ethical discussions around these topics are ongoing, and viewpoints may differ based on diverse moral frameworks and values.
👻 🔪 Tuff Ghost 🔪 👻 — Today at 04:16
There are humans who have less cognitive capacity than animals
Victorpollack — Today at 04:16
That we can definitely agree on haha.
👻 🔪 Tuff Ghost 🔪 👻 — Today at 04:17
Still we wouldn't exploit and kill them
[04:17]
And personally I don't know anyone, human or animal, that would consent to what you saw in dominion
Victorpollack — Today at 04:18
A lot of people do exploit those cognitively impaired. Plenty of scammers out there.
👻 🔪 Tuff Ghost 🔪 👻 — Today at 04:18
I'm sure you hear the screams
[04:18]
Yeah but would you?
Victorpollack — Today at 04:18
Me? No.
👻 🔪 Tuff Ghost 🔪 👻 — Today at 04:18
Then why fund animal exploitation
Victorpollack — Today at 04:19
I suppose I hold a different viewpoint on the matter.
👻 🔪 Tuff Ghost 🔪 👻 — Today at 04:20
Would you explain your personal viewpoint
Victorpollack — Today at 04:23
The fact is that no matter what I personally do, I won't change global trends and practices of the trade. In the short lifespan that I have, I do not want to spend my life trying to turn rivers back upstream. I do not want to fight the windmills. Therefore I see no reason to change whatever my habits are within the world I live regardless of my ethical stance on the matter.
👻 🔪 Tuff Ghost 🔪 👻 — Today at 04:24
So an appeal to futility
Victorpollack — Today at 04:24
I have different priorities is all.
👻 🔪 Tuff Ghost 🔪 👻 — Today at 04:25
Your logic is inherently flawed tho
Victorpollack — Today at 04:25
How come?
👻 🔪 Tuff Ghost 🔪 👻 — Today at 04:26
Because your stance is fallacious
[04:26]
[04:27]
Just because you can't end animal exploitation doesn't mean you shouldn't minimize the harm you do
[04:27]
Can't end rape either, doesn't make it okay
Victorpollack — Today at 04:29
Even if that may be, like I have mentioned. My priorities are different and I do not have the privilege to allow myself such an endeavour without compromising them.
👻 🔪 Tuff Ghost 🔪 👻 — Today at 04:30
You're human, you have the privilege not to be exploited and murdered, unlike your victims
Victorpollack — Today at 04:30
However I admire your spirit of having a clear vision of what your stances and beliefs are and giving it your 100%.
@👻 🔪 Tuff Ghost 🔪 👻
You're human, you have the privilege not to be exploited and murdered, unlike your victims
Victorpollack — Today at 04:31
I beg to differ, I have been exploited many of times.
👻 🔪 Tuff Ghost 🔪 👻 — Today at 04:32
Have you been anally fisted, forced to bear children, and then had those children stolen and murdered
[04:32]
Cause that's dairy
Victorpollack — Today at 04:32
No, but I have been brutally beaten, stolen from, used for unpaid labour.
[04:33]
Therefore I can't say I see the world quite as pretty as it may seem.
👻 🔪 Tuff Ghost 🔪 👻 — Today at 04:33
So why fund the oppression of others when you yourself have been oppressed
[04:34]
Your view seems extremely selfish to me
Victorpollack — Today at 04:35
Because I have more pressing matters to attend to in my own personal life. Perhaps it is selfish of me to want to ensure my own well-being and of my fellow humans before attending to needs of poor animals that have bad conditions, however that is my set of priorites.
👻 🔪 Tuff Ghost 🔪 👻 — Today at 04:36
When you go vegan you don't give anything up, you just stop taking what was never yours to begin with
Victorpollack — Today at 04:37
However it does require resources such as time, effort and attention... Things I do not have to spare unfortunately.
👻 🔪 Tuff Ghost 🔪 👻 — Today at 04:37
You're honestly telling me you can't spare the time it takes to read a list of ingredients?
Victorpollack — Today at 04:38
I can't spare time to even cook most of the time.
👻 🔪 Tuff Ghost 🔪 👻 — Today at 04:38
Me either
[04:38]
I get microwave shit
Victorpollack — Today at 04:39
Good stuff. Well.. That has been an exhilarating conversation. How about a new topic?
[04:39]
You mentioned you like science fiction as well. What is your favorite movie?
👻 🔪 Tuff Ghost 🔪 👻 — Today at 04:40
I'm not really interested in pursuing this friendship, I can't consolidate the whole you activity supporting things I'm morally opposed to. The same reason I don't make friends with racists, sexists, etc etc
Victorpollack — Today at 04:42
I have not in any way suggested that I support animal cruelty of any sort.
👻 🔪 Tuff Ghost 🔪 👻 — Today at 04:42
You support it with your actions
[04:42]
Words are easy
Victorpollack — Today at 04:44
However, if my inability to completely rework my entire life around your moral stance is enough for you to not want to be acquainted with me, than I must say I think there is nothing else I can do no matter how much I wish I could be your friend.
[04:44]
Well it's been a pleasure and I wish you a pleasant night.

2023.06.01 03:42 akhn4ten i miss you
I used to steal Norco from my grandmother. I seemed to have control for a few months until I began taking them in the midday instead of night. In January, she finally found out, after my use had skyrocketed after taking 20mg the first time, after dabbling with 5-10. I completely lost control once I crossed that threshold. I knew the only thing that would get me to stop taking them would be her finding out, I know prescription pharmaceuticals are the only way I could experience that safely, I knew pills I’d find on the street and heroin would not be legit. I was waiting on her to find out. Then she did. Now, it’s so triggering to be in arms reach of opioids without being able to take any, especially considering the last time I used any was the first time I tried Oxycodone. And it got me way higher with way less. And I miss it, genuinely. I would love to have the opportunity to get it again. But I know that will almost absolutely likely never happen again. I don’t know how I will ever get anymore narcotics again, though I know I am not done. I can live sober whilst knowing the second they’re within my own private reach, I will take them again. It makes me wonder if that even is sober living. It’s more mandatory than by choice. I do not think that is true sobriety.
I know untapped access to opioids would completely destroy me. I know the way I used them and the way the amount I used increased exponentially. As soon as I tried upping the dose, I just couldn’t go back. I know if I had them again, it would happen again, and it would be much quicker than before. I know that if I had them again, they would become the centerpiece of my life, even more than they were in the first month of this year; it’s no longer a guessing game of what I would feel like from what dose, I know exactly what to take to get me high but in the times I’ve had my own script since then, I have completely abused them beyond my wildest dreams.
When I had my own script of 5mg Norco in March from a surgery, I finished 8 or 10 of 12 in the first day I had them. Last month, I was in the hospital for chest pain and a panic attack, and they gave me Norco when they absolutely should not have. I took all 12 in one day. And I’m positive if I had a bottle of 30, I would likely finish all 30 in a matter of days. It’s not even about getting high anymore, it’s a lust like I have never felt before in my life, a totally encapsulating limerence that is teetering on the edge of suicidality; access to my own in the way I want them would almost certainly end in overdose. I know that, I recognize that, yet it does not stop me from wanting them any less.
It has been the one true love of my life, though it never gave me any love back. It only ever gave me an insatiable craving for more, similar to the one Xanax used to give me, but this was much stronger. It felt like the most important thing I had ever discovered in my life. There are not many experiences you have in life that introduce to you an entirely new feeling, an entirely new state of consciousness that hides behind the facade of bliss. The bliss is only to keep you coming back. I truly think opiates are the quickest way to ruin your life. It is so unbelievably easy to go from 0-100; I have experienced it first hand. It is so synesthetic to a black hole to me, it is a heartbreaking key to the door that leads you to the slide down to an unrecognizable you. I think the worst part is that even though I have felt the destruction they cause, I still look back on that era of my life as the most heartbreaking yet most beautiful period I have ever lived through. I will never be able to shake that feeling, either. It has completely shaped the person I am today, it has hardened me, it has taught me true addiction and loss, it’s given me an unbearable anhedonia that I still cannot find the answers to work past. It has robbed me of my hobbies and enjoyment of what I used to do. They gave me life, then ripped it up in front of my face. The boredom I experience now, a full 4 months since I was caught, is indescribable.
It has turned me into an alcoholic and turned me off of weed. My use caused my use of other drugs to go up exponentially, once I crossed the threshold of a true nodding high, I couldn’t bear to be sober anymore. I would take anything I could to alter my state of being. It made me run from myself faster than I could have ever imagined. There was nothing like being under the influence of something consistently. It made time cease to exist. It took a magic eraser to my brain. Yet I still miss the feeling.
It is so heartbreaking to know that what I crave will kill me if I attempt to go back. I can’t describe it. It is like running toward a serial killer that chasing you. I know opiates are the easiest way to ruin a life but I still don’t care. I haven’t cared about anything since I quit.

2023.06.01 03:12 Vaporeoman I wached Lain
| I just finished watching the Serial Experiment Lain anime, from what I have understood about the plot and what the author of this has tried to replicate, it seems to me that this attempt to give an image of the future of the internet where everything is connected (like a cable post), Lain would be an ordinary girl, although introverted, who on the internet reveals a personality that she does not show to the public and her friends, this usually appears in real life since the internet interferes with this, as well as the internet today if , the truth is that I loved both the animation and the idea of what the author's internet would be like, both the OP who has a captivating music and singer and the atmosphere that this generates, it is recommended to watch in the dark and drinking beer xd without anyone interrupting you . 2023.06.01 03:12 326pcg Looking for advice
I’m currently 24+2. I had previous cervix surgeries for precancerous cells so I’ve had serial ultrasounds. Today my cervix measured 3.0cm but 2.3cm when I bear down with no funneling.
Two weeks ago, I was measuring 3.3cm when bearing down so it feels like a big change. My doctor said it was no big deal and we will measure again in 2 weeks. Should I be advocating harder for progesterone?

2023.05.31 19:42 IWillBaconSlapYou I had a little insomnia attack and my fucking dog won't shut up
I have genetic insomnia. No curing it. Some times are better than others, but I've been getting four hours a night this week, so I took the "ICE" Ambien my doctor gave me last night... And then I got THREE hours. But all the side effects. So I'm basically high as a kite and sleep deprived to near-death today, and since 2/3 of the kids are at school and the leftover one is really quiet and easy (and my husband works from home) I decided to try to take a nap.
On a related topic, the Great Pyrenees is a livestock guard breed, hardwired to bark at any and every perceived intrusion, so as to protect its herd of sheep from wolves, mountain lions, coyotes, and the like. Mine is a derpy ass suburban pet with no such sheep, who, regardless, loses his shit ten million times per day because of homicidal delivery men, carnivorous gardeners, passing murder-trucks, and that one terrible, evil family across the street that has the audacity to be visible in their own living room window. Oh my god, did you see that!? That blade of grass twitched! I think it has a gun!!! WOOF WOOF WOOF WOOF WOOF WOOF WOOF FUCK YOU GRASS!!!
So I'm just gonna curl up and die of actual real problems now. Would've been nice to have a long life, but what were the odds of that in such a dangerous neighborhood full of serial killers, anyway?

2023.05.31 18:33 cookiescranner56 what last words will always give you chills???
A few years ago when I used to work for the police, I was a 911 dispatcher for 13 years, my job was pretty chill, never got that many calls, but Wednesday 9th November, 1988, is the day I will never forget. It was around 9:45PM, I was 15 minutes away from my shift ending, as I’m packing away my things, the phone rings and I pick up and say my usual, ‘911, what’s your emergency’. All I heard was screaming and shouting through the phone, I was confused, but then it was silent… BANG, a gunshot is fired, I froze then a young male from the call starts speaking telling me his step-dad has went mad and is killing everyone in the house, his sister and father has been shot dead, and his brother has been wounded and himself and his mother are hiding in the closet, I quickly send a dispatch team over to his location and tell him to stay in the closet and keep calm. Again it goes quiet but this time is for longer, then I heard someone say ‘found you, time to die’ and a gunshot, the young male screams and says ‘ why are you shooting your own wife you demented fucker’, I am trying to ask him what’s happening, but then his next words scare me. ‘Stop it Jason Moreham’, I fucking froze so quickly… Jason Moreham is the number 1 serial killer in our town and had been for 22 years, he has murdered 16 people including men, woman and children, he had never been caught until now. I told my dispatch team who it was and they went full code RED. Then the young male hung up. I told my co workers who were there. We waited 25 minutes for a call from our dispatch team. We then found out Jason killed all the people in the house except a barely alive 15 year old girl named Samantha, and then Jason took his own life. It has been 13 years and it still haunts me today about what happened all those years ago.

2023.05.31 17:31 Sure_Orange5020 Unveiling the Enigma: Delving into the Mysteries of the Zodiac Killer
Hey fellow Redditors,
Today, I want to explore one of the most captivating and perplexing criminal cases in American history—the Zodiac Killer. The Zodiac Killer, an unidentified serial killer active in the late 1960s and early 1970s, has left an indelible mark on popular culture, inspiring numerous books, movies, and endless speculation. Despite decades of investigation, the true identity of this enigmatic killer remains a mystery. So, let's embark on a journey to uncover the chilling details and theories surrounding the Zodiac Killer case.
The Crimes:
The Zodiac Killer is believed to be responsible for a series of murders and assaults in Northern California between 1968 and 1969. His crimes were characterized by cryptic letters sent to local newspapers, in which he taunted the police and threatened further violence. The Zodiac claimed to have killed at least 37 victims, although only five murders have been officially linked to him. These confirmed victims were young couples attacked in secluded areas, often while they were parked in their cars.
The Codes and Cryptograms:
One of the most intriguing aspects of the Zodiac case is the mysterious codes and cryptograms the killer sent to newspapers and authorities. The Zodiac taunted investigators by challenging them to decipher his cryptic messages. Some of these codes remain unsolved to this day, feeding the enduring fascination with the case. Several amateur and professional codebreakers have dedicated themselves to cracking these ciphers, hoping to unveil the identity of the Zodiac.
Suspects and Theories:
Over the years, numerous suspects have been considered, but none definitively identified as the Zodiac Killer. One notable suspect was Arthur Leigh Allen, a convicted child molester, and former schoolteacher. Although he was the prime suspect for many years, the evidence against Allen remains circumstantial, and he passed away in 1992 without ever being charged with the crimes.
Other theories have emerged, implicating different individuals ranging from a former military intelligence officer to an unknown cab driver. Some even suggest that the Zodiac may have been a group of people working together, given the inconsistencies and variations in his crimes. Theories and speculations continue to circulate, keeping the case alive in the minds of true crime enthusiasts.
The Legacy:
The Zodiac Killer's notoriety extends far beyond his crimes. He became a symbol of fear and fascination, inspiring a wave of paranoia across California during his reign of terror. The case also had a profound impact on law enforcement, prompting the adoption of new investigative techniques and the establishment of the first-ever task force dedicated to a serial killer investigation.
Continued Interest and Media Influence:
Even though the Zodiac Killer's crimes occurred over five decades ago, public interest in the case shows no signs of waning. The story has been the subject of numerous books, documentaries, podcasts, and even feature films, keeping the mystery alive and attracting new generations of armchair detectives. The Zodiac's mystique continues to captivate our collective imagination.

2023.05.31 17:10 SwissCheese4Collagen Nostrils McBeardsley Power Hour: Actually Gunner's Appearance aka My Super Lesbian Cat Austin is a witch! HE IS HERE! (Official Birth Vlog)
| Howdy Snarkers, Actually Gunner Still James' Birth vlog has finally been posted a week later. We know the name ended up being Actually Gunner instead of Maybe Edwin, we know he born on May 17, but we don't know is how much he weighed when he was born. OfNostrils is going to have Nostrils in Charge Rachel as her Doula at the hospital. She, OfNostrils, and Nostrils all tried to predict how much the baby would weigh. Only Nostrils tried to guess the time he would be born, and also he would be dark headed. But we are getting ahead of ourselves, let's start at the beginning. Giddy-Up & Austina help open the video The intro is super annoying this week because it bled over into the theme song, so the theme song was just super loud and you heard the birth audio continue past the birth footage. Actually Gunner doesn't have a title spot yet, welcome to life as the third born, kid. Giddy-Up hops around behind his mother excited to announce that his baby week, Austina is excited to announce that it's Mother's Day. Look at our girl sticking to the scheduling like a pro. Austina sprinkles some tap water on her mother before she gets sent to the van with Giddy-Up because today is the last baby Dr. appointment. Before we can go however, OfNostrils has to show us her project that she finished before "baby" arrived. It's a table! With four chairs! And a vase of flowers! That's it. Whatever makes her happy I guess. OfNostrils tells us that her stuff is packed for the hospital so she's ready to go whenever and she's excited, but she also sometimes wishes time would slow down, because she can't believe it and OMC...We have heard this so many times. Austina would like to eat obviously, as she's more interested in burgers than brothers But off we go to the final Dr. appointment. As they wait in the van for Nostrils to arrive, OfNostrils quizzes Nostrils The Next Generation on their newest members arrival. Giddy-Up thinks two days until Actually Gunner Still James arrives, while Austina says burger twice before sticking her fingers in her mouth for the rest of the "Scene". The captions help her out and say Google once and burger the second time but OfNostrils quickly realizes Austina isn't playing along for the cameras and flips back to Giddy-Up. Giddy-Up's jaw drops when his mother informs him that tomorrow is when the baby will get here. She asks Austina what she wants to name him as they wait for Nostrils to appear. Giddy-Up says he wants to name the baby Mr. Joel and Austina nods her assent. OfNostrils expresses extreme surprise at this until she figures out they are talking about someone at church, "a friend". Why do they always use that word, by the way? That's up there with "precious", "season of life", and "blessing". Anyways, the kids get distracted by Nostrils showing up with a trailer, and we make it into the doctor's office where we get the clip we saw last week in the teaser of Nostrils talking about OfNostrils' cervix, the caption still say "styling", not "dilating", but they now say "softening" instead of "something". Oh nothing to see here, just coaching the two-year-old on how to look more fully at the camera. Joy's Styled Cervix Well it's official, I want to see what other names were on that list. I have to see what Gunner beat. Back at the Nostrils McBeardsley house, it's business as usual which means, you guessed it, naps! Once they wake up the children eat cantaloupe, with OfNostrils priming Austina's future disordered eating by exclaiming "girl! Did you eat all that cantaloupe! Let me see that belly", as Austina happily licks the cutting board clean. As she should. Giddy-Up gets in a shot with OfNostrils' baby bump and yells "hello" a couple times to his little brother who he still wants to name Mr. Joel. Giddy-Up goes to jump on Nostrils to try and convince him that they should name the baby Mr. Joel until he is presented with the problem of having too many Mr. Joels. He sits on his father and states he wants the name to be James baby. Nostrils informed him that the baby's middle name will be James, and Giddy-Up and Austina proceed to jump on top of their father as their mother films it for the Tube. So wholesome, right? Anyways, OfNostrils is having quite the dilemma over whether or not to keep her 5 and 2 1/2-year-old home so she can "lay them down one more time before baby comes", or let her and her husband get a night of uninterrupted sleep before going into be induced for labor at 4:30 in the morning by having her mother-in-law keep the children for the next 2 nights instead of one. She chooses the wise option, and sends Giddy-Up and Austina with "Grandma", if you're the kids. I don't know why she is so set on calling Nostrils' mom Grandmother, when everyone else calls her Grandma. These two are gonna try to run away to Mr. Joel's house one of these weeks. Stay tuned... Says Nostrils, with his industrial-strength DNA... We will have to take your word for that. No, really she turned it on and it was 3:57 Finally, it's time to go to the hospital. Since she has everything packed, she waits in the kitchen for Nostrils to wake up. While she waits, OfNostrils gives us the Last Bump Check, and her prediction that the baby will weigh 8 1/2, no 9 pounds she says. Back in the kitchen, Nostrils has appeared, and he starts digging in the freezer only to pull out an Amazon box full of individually packaged chocolate chip cookies, which OfNostrils claims are her cookies. Nostrils exclaims he can have a cookie, as OfNostrils explains they are part of a meal train from the church. Nostrils also made her edible Cookie dough freezer bites, which she points out are gummy bear shaped. The fact that the freezer cookie dough bites are little gummy bears really makes me think that whoever made them also makes either wine or weed gummies. Will include Serial Killer Grinch Face below if requested. Also, who splashed out for this? Did Kath! have an extra? Off they go to the hospital, in the dark and sprinkling rain where OfNostrils takes a picture of Nostrils doing his patented serial killer grinch smile as he drives down the road. Once they get to the hospital Nostrils asks OfNostrils if she's ready to have a baby. I mean I hope they are, kind of late now. They get to the "huge" room, where nostrils in charge, Rachel chats with Nostrils. OfNostrils shows us the tissues on the table before sliding over to see Actually Gunner's landing pad as Nostrils reminds his sister just how ugly he thinks her nephew was when he was first born. Which is rich considering that Giddy-Up looked a lot like ol Col. Brillo Beard. Giddy-Up had peach fuzz, obviously Nostrils can't have that OfNostrils settles in and she has her ice chips, she has her IV that didn't hurt, and the Pitocin going into it. She credits the IV being so easy to the amount of water she's been drinking, not God. Do we think God's taking this personally, or just relieved that they left his name out of their mouth for five seconds? Either way her cervix is "styled" to a four, and her doctor and nostril in charge Rachel will be clocking in an hour or so while Perm and J16 will be there in about two hours. Nostrils is going to try to take a nap, OfNostrils thinks she won't be able to. To be fair, OfNostrils' guess was technically 8 pounds and 16 ounces so the McBeardsleys guessed within 2 ounces of each other. They're splitting frog hairs this point, with Nostril in charge Rachel as the outlier. OfNostrils decides it's time to take final predictions. She sticks with her 9 pound guess, Nostrils says 8 lbs. 14 oz., changes his mind to 8 lbs. 13 oz. before saying 8 lbs. 14 oz. Nostril in charge Rachel guesses 7 lbs. 9 oz., as Nostrils tries to tell her to eat something that he specifically brought for her. Once she makes her guess Nostrils and OfNostrils tried to tell her that the baby is measuring big, which I would expect a Doula to have known? She retorts it must be the baby's big head, and they inform her that it's his stomach measuring big, which again I would expect the Doula to have been brought up to speed, prior to being in actual active labor? Nostrils needs both hands on the IV pole at all times. Music plays as Nostril in charge Rachel perches on the bed while playing a game of charades with Meech, as nostrils sits on the couch next to OfNostrils bouncing on a yoga ball. Meech and OfNostrils get their screen time in as Nostrils catches a couple winks. The McBeardsley's take nostril in charge Rachel along as they walk a couple miles in the halls. Nostrils has a brainwave and uses the robe pocket on his wife's back to carry his fountain pop while he is the IV jockey. Must be that NASA engineering gene. They returned to the room and the McBeardsleys take naps. OfNostrils wakes up and get the simultaneous back massage from Meech and nostril in charge Rachel, while J16 films Nostrils sleeping in the background. Nostrils has been sleeping more this vlog than the rest of them have this whole time... \"Hansel\"????? Speaking of J16, OfNostrils calls her "Hansel", which, didn't think that one was ever going to be a nickname at TTH. OfNostrils recaps Giddy-Up's birth, when J16 was only able to witness up until the emergency C-section. Not sure why she wasn't able to be around for Austina's birth... But anyways hopefully this one goes smoothly and she is able to see the whole thing. I suppose they have to show her what it's like to be handed a buddy at the hospital, J 17 is probably in line to go to the hospital the next time the SeeWorld's have a new attraction to get the experience. OfNostrils also informs us it's 1:30 PM and she has not been checked since 10 AM. J16's gotta earn her place in the delivery room by being the main camera woman. \"Answer it mom\" – Nostrils It's easier to tell time in casinos than in this hospital room, but I'm guessing Giddy-Up and Austina don't have many 9:30 PM social appointments so this must be the next day. Nostrils face times "Grandmother" Nostrils To check in on Nostrils The Next Generation as Meech checks in with Jana (I'm guessing), Nostrils literally wills his mother to answer the phone, where Giddy-Up and Austina pop on the screen. Giddy-Up is excited about a new shirt, Nostrils agrees that it is a cool shirt. Giddy-Up asks "have you had that baby yet", which sounds like something that GrandNostrils has said every time he's talked to OfNostrils in the past three months. OfNostrils tells the children, she misses them, she can't wait to see them and hold them but Giddy-Up is excited that he has gum. OfNostrils asks "grandma gave you gum, oh man." No idea if he is supposed to have gum or not or what the deal is but Grandmother Nostrils suddenly finds out that she has been rushing for no reason because she's half an hour early. OfNostrils states that she told her the time was 9:30, not nine. This must be the next day, although we didn't get a snazzy Next Day infographics or transition. No word on where they're going however, my bet is on swim lessons. Grandmother Nostrils has forgotten Giddy-Up's shoes, apparently that's not a big deal though. OfNostrils does remind her to bring in extra clothes, definitely swim lessons. Nostrils demands the phone back and we cut to OfNostrils lying in bed with a white cloth on her forehead, it appears to be go time. Seems like she had an easy time of the delivery part so maybe they won't stop at four like they said a couple weeks ago, months ago? OfNostrils gets the usual words of encouragement and vague instructions on how to squeeze a person out of your body from her mother, sister and sister in law. They work and and 8 lbs. 14 oz. Actually Gunner Still James emerges only to be flung up on his mother's chest and filmed for the Internet. See? I told you My Super Lesbian Cat Austin was witch. Welcome to the circus, Kid. Good luck. Literally on display the second he takes his first breath. What a fucked up way to be initiated into your family... Okay guys honest to God I swear Part 2 will be up today, I think I finally fine-tuned my new process to where it will work a lot quicker. Also, Baby Swiss and I plan to write down our snarky comments as we watch the documentary and post the top 10 or something. She is super excited to stay up and start watching it at midnight. I can leave a live chat open then if anybody wants, just let me know. submitted by SwissCheese4Collagen to SnarkyRecapsBySwiss [link] [comments] |
